Well, if you log in to CP now, the blue sky is back, and round the 'volcano' at the dojo courtyard it doesn't look like there is lava round it anymore, just smoke. AP on TIS said 'THAT'S JUST A CHIMNEY COVERED BY SNOW'.
The ninja hideout has also changed, with a cool logo on the floor, but the hole is still there. There is a ladder, too.
Maybe the hole is an underground room?
Edit: The collecting thing is still there in the top right hand corner of the screen, but you can't click the fiery items anymore. The fire in the ski lodge is still behaving strangely.
